Yesterday, Councillor McKenney indicated that she will be sending her proposal to make Ottawa a Sanctuary City to the Community and Protective Services Committee. We welcome this decision and the opportunity it gives us to show City Council that Ottawa supports making our city safer and more welcoming for all.
At the Committee meeting scheduled for March 30th, 2017, Councillors will hear from the community about why we need to take concrete steps to make our city services safe and accessible to all residents, regardless of immigration status. After discussion in Committee, the motion will be sent to the following Council meeting for a vote.
